Synergy Training Centre Ltd

Synergy Training Centre Ltd is an independent UK training provider specialising in construction, retrofit, and clean energy skills. The organisation delivers accredited and industry-recognised training programmes designed to support workforce upskilling and reskilling, particularly for individuals transitioning from carbon-intensive sectors into emerging low-carbon industries. Synergy Training Centre works with recognised awarding organisations and industry partners to provide high-quality, flexible learning, including renewable technologies, energy efficiency, and sustainable construction practices. The organisation focuses on practical, accessible training that supports regional skills development and contributes to the UK’s transition to a net-zero economy.

Synergy offer the following courses:

  • ABBE Level 3 Award in Introduction to Domestic Retrofit - This course introduces the principles of improving the energy efficiency of existing homes. Learners gain an understanding of retrofit measures such as insulation, ventilation and low-carbon heating, alongside the importance of a whole-house approach aligned with the PAS 2035 retrofit framework, which sets the recognised standard for quality domestic retrofit projects supporting the UK’s Net Zero ambitions.
  • GQA Level 2 Award in Awareness of the Principles of Non-domestic Retrofit and PAS 2038 - This course introduces the principles of improving energy performance in non-domestic buildings such as offices, schools and commercial premises. Learners gain awareness of retrofit strategies and the PAS 2038 framework, which provides the professional standard for assessing and upgrading non-domestic buildings to reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions and operational costs in support of the UK’s Net Zero transition.
  • NOCN Assured Course – Awareness of Renewable Technologies - This course provides an accessible introduction to renewable energy technologies and the transition to a low-carbon economy. Learners explore the environmental impacts of fossil fuels, climate change and the role of renewable energy in achieving Net Zero. The course provides entry-level knowledge for individuals interested in developing skills and career pathways within the clean energy sector.
  • NOCN Level 5 Introduction to Solar PV Systems - This course introduces the principles of solar photovoltaic (PV) technology and how solar energy systems generate electricity. Learners explore solar panel types, system components, installation considerations and factors affecting system efficiency. The course also introduces energy storage and relevant regulations, supporting understanding of solar technologies within the expanding renewable energy and Net Zero economy.
  • NOCN Introduction to Hydrogen - This course introduces hydrogen as an emerging clean energy solution within the future low-carbon energy system. Learners gain an understanding of hydrogen production methods, storage and distribution, alongside safety considerations and environmental benefits. The course provides essential introductory knowledge for individuals exploring opportunities within the developing hydrogen economy and wider clean energy transition.
  • NOCN SiteRight Mould Awareness – Prevent Damp and Mould Issues - This course introduces damp and mould issues commonly found in residential buildings. Learners explore the causes of condensation and mould, associated health risks and practical approaches to prevention and treatment. The course complements PAS 2035-aligned retrofit activity, where effective ventilation, moisture management and building performance are essential to delivering healthy, energy-efficient homes.
  • ABBE/NOCN Level 3 Award in Energy Efficiency for Older and Traditional Buildings - This course focuses on improving the energy efficiency of older and traditional buildings while protecting their historic character and fabric. Learners explore traditional construction methods, building defects and appropriate retrofit solutions. The course supports the application of sensitive energy efficiency and retrofit measures in heritage and traditional housing as part of the UK’s Net Zero transition.

Unyte Academy Ltd

Unyte Academy Ltd is a UK-based training and skills development provider focused on supporting the transition to low-carbon housing and sustainable construction. The Academy delivers accredited, industry-aligned programmes designed to build workforce capacity in retrofit, energy efficiency, and decarbonisation. Working with employers, housing providers, and public sector partners, Unyte Academy provides practical, standards-based learning that equips individuals with the knowledge needed to support compliant retrofit delivery and improve the energy performance of homes. Its programmes help develop the skilled workforce required to deliver high-quality domestic retrofit across the UK.

  • NOCN Level 2 Award in Understanding Domestic Retrofit (UDR) - This course provides a clear introduction to how homes can be improved to reduce energy use and carbon emissions. Background

The Office for Clean Energy Jobs within the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero is supporting the UK’s transition to clean energy through the Clean Energy Jobs Plan,
which sets out their action
plan to build a highly skilled and diverse domestic clean energy workforce to meet the demands of Clean Power 2030 and beyond.
This includes the launch of Phase 2 of the Regional Skills Pilot for North and North East Lincolnshire, supporting workers to move into clean energy jobs. 

The Midlands Net Zero Hub is managing the pilot in North and North East Lincolnshire.
