Green Homes Grant Skills Training Competition

Scheme background
The Green Homes Grant (GHG) Training Programme awarded grant funding to a range of suppliers to deliver accredited training to the low carbon installation sector at scale.
Managed by the Midlands Net Zero Hub, 18 training providers were appointed to deliver courses that reflected the skills needed to install individual energy efficiency and low carbon heating measures supported by the Green Homes Grant scheme, Local Authority Delivery scheme, Energy Company Obligation, and the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.
Training packages
The competition was split across five work packages to deliver the various skills needed to improve the retrofit supply chain.
Work Package 1 – Retrofit Assessor and Retrofit coordinator
Provision and delivery of training to PAS 2035 standards.
Work Package 2 – Insulation
Provision and delivery of training to National Occupational Standards or higher in the installation of domestic insulation measures – underfloor, internal and external wall and loft.
Work Package 3 – Non-insulation Fabric Measures
Provision and delivery of training to National Occupational Standards or higher in the installation of domestic windows, doors and draft proofing.
Work Package 4 – Heat Pumps and Solar Thermal
Provision and delivery of accredited training to National Occupational and MCS standards in the installation of domestic heat pumps (air and ground source) and solar thermal.
Work Package 5 – Heating and Hot Water Controls
Provision and delivery of training to National Occupational Standards or equivalent in the installation of domestic heating and hot water controls, including smart controls.
Scheme evaluation
