This phase focused on assessing the local workforce needs for clean energy jobs, including skills gaps, challenges and barriers in North and North East Lincolnshire.
The Midlands Net Zero Hub developed a skills mapping plan to identify interventions to re/upskill the workforce and support the transition to clean energy jobs.

Following the Phase 1 mapping and identification of skills gaps, Phase 2 will pilot bespoke interventions in the area to support re-skilling and up-skilling efforts in the transition to clean energy jobs.

Key activities include:

• Subsidised training in technical and introductory clean energy skills, available for individuals employed in a carbon intensive sector, who are either a resident within the local authority areas of North Lincolnshire or North East Lincolnshire, or have been employed in an office/industrial facility within North Lincolnshire or North East Lincolnshire at any point between December 2023-2025.
  
• Bursaries to support eligible learners in accessing the subsidised clean energy training.
  
• Careers advice and the development of a communications strategy to guide and support the transition into clean energy roles.

MNZH will launch a grant competition on this website by the end of October 2025. A total of £490,000 will become available to independent training providers and higher education institutions to deliver clean energy training and bursaries by the end of March 2026.

Individuals interested in training that will become available through the pilot can contact the training provider(s) that will be delivering the relevant training directly from December onward.
