Anaerobic Digestion in the Midlands: A Policy Briefing on Renewable Energy Potential

A key ambition of the Hub is to assist local authorities across the Midlands to better understand anaerobic digestion (AD), and its crucial role in generating renewable energy and managing the processing of organic wastes. The Hub has therefore appointed environmental and sustainability consultancy Walker Resource Management (WRM) to provide strategy development and project feasibility work for AD infrastructure in the region.

As a first stage, WRM have produced a briefing report to provide a better understanding of the opportunities available to maximise the potential of AD as part of the Midland’s energy mix and future circular economy approach.

Call for Expressions of Interest

As part of this project, the Hub is now launching a call for Expressions of Interest from local authority partners who would like the opportunity to work with the Hub’s AD consultants (Walker Resource Management – WRM) to develop an AD feasibility study.

The Hub is looking to support the development of feasibility studies across three sites, ideally with differing backgrounds, environments and ambitions.

The final studies will include an assessment of use patterns, energy requirements, and infrastructure needs, along with providing actionable recommendations for the chosen area.
