Heat training grant: Heat networks
The Hub is working with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero to launch a competition for courses relating to heat networks.
Heat networks are critical technologies for decarbonising heat and the number of networks in England is steadily growing. The 2020 Heat Network Skills Review found that the sector already faced a skills gap which would be exacerbated as the industry grows.
Five approved training providers (listed below) can offer trainees up to £500 towards eligible heat network courses.
Eligibility
You’re eligible for the grant if all of the following are true:
– you’re a heating engineer or work in the heat networks area
– you’re based in England
– you, or the business you work for, have received less than £315,000 in government subsidies over the last 3 years
There may be additional requirements for some of the courses.

- Choose a course with a training provider from the list below
- Confirm eligibility with the training provider and any entry requirements
- Book your course directly with the training provider
The training provider will apply for the grant on your behalf.

We are excited to announce that the Heat Training Grant: Heat Networks Competition has been made available for Year 2 of the Heat Training Grant: Heat Network Competition. This initiative aims to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in heat networks, essential for achieving net zero targets in the UK.
The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has made an additional £1.5m available for training providers to deliver this second phase of the scheme.
The application window for Year 2 of the competition is now closed. We look forward to announcing the successful training providers in due course.
