Free fleet reviews available for Midlands councils

To support local authorities in the Midlands with their net zero commitments, the Midlands Net Zero Hub is offering free fleet reviews to eligible councils.

A fleet review supports local authorities to analyse their current fleet and plan for future zero-emission vehicle transitions. The reviews will include assessing use patterns, energy requirements, and infrastructure needs, along with providing actionable recommendations.

In this phase, councils in the Midlands must submit an Expression of Interest, describing their understanding of their existing fleet and any anticipated future requirements. There will be no cost to the local authority for this review, as funding will be managed by the Hub directly with the consultant. To qualify, applicants must not have had a recent fleet review, or their existing review must be over two years old.

Please fill out the Expression of Interest and email it to the Midlands Net Zero Hub at MidlandsNetZeroHub@nottinghamcity.gov.uk by 11:59 pm on 20th February 2025 . Applicants will be notified of the outcome by Wednesday 26th February 2025.

This support builds on the success of the Midlands Net Zero Hub funded ‘Electrification of Council Depots Guide’, which sets out the clear steps that local authorities need to take to transition their fleet to electric vehicles. Since the guide was launched in 2023, the Hub has supported Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council, West Lindsey District Council, and a partnership between Worcester City Council and Worcestershire County Council with £25,000 grant funding to accelerate their depot electrification projects.
